Yes. This will be the method that coaches use to inform parents when meets are over, last minute changes, bus arrival times, etc. Please sign up on our “Remind App” page.
We plan on being outdoors any chance we get. Depending on the temperatures, and snow/weather conditions we will adjust our plan on a day to day basis. Please have your child prepared to run in the cold. They should have hats, gloves, and multiple layers of clothing available to practice in every day. For meets, white tops (t-shirts, compression shirts, etc) and black bottoms (compression shorts/pants) will be our official team expectation for foundational garments under the uniforms.
Past experience has taught us that proper arch support may help prevent shin splints (along with regular stretching, of course) and there are various shoe types which are known to improve knee aches and joint pain. No matter where you choose to purchase your shoes, we highly recommend finding a place that will do a foot evaluation for your specific child. If you need more info on shoe store recommendations, please ask your coach for details.
Junior High Students will need to use the Main Gym Lockers and meet in the Kaufman Center Gym to start practice. High School Students will use the main gym locker room and meet in the Kaufman Center Gym to practice also.
Any student who is currently “In Season”, with another sport or activity (ie. Academic Challenge) should make those practices and meets a priority over Track & Field practice. If your other practices/events end early enough to attend part of our practice too, we would love to have you, but we understand that makes for a crazy schedule sometimes. No worries if you can’t make it. Please let your head coach know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
The track & field season officially starts on Tuesday February 20th for High School and Monday February 26th for Junior High. Beginning that day, practices will be held every weekday, except Wednesday, from 3:00 to 4:30 for the junior high team, and for the high school athletes, practices will run from 3:00 to between 4:30 and 5:00 depending on the scheduled practice intensity. High School and Junior High track practice calendars will be distributed for your reference as the schedule will change due to the competition schedule and other school events.
The HIGH SCHOOL meets that have been scheduled so far can be accessed through Lake Center Christian School’s athletics website for High School girls meets and High School boys meets.
The JUNIOR HIGH meets that have been scheduled so far can be accessed through Lake Center Christian School’s athletics website for the Junior High meet schedule.
Good sportsmanship would dictate that all athletes should stay to cheer on their fellow teammates and competitors, but we realize that track meets can take a lot of time out of your day. This said, although we encourage all our athletes to stay for all events and help encourage their teammates in remaining events, students may leave with their parent(s) or guardian(s) after their events have been completed. Athletes must be signed-out with a coach and may only leave with their own parent or guardian unless alternate arrangements have been made/approved in advance.
